Research:

I work on cell-free enzyme cascades, combining enzymes from different metabolic pathways to produce chemicals from biowaste or C1-Chemicals that can be derived from CO2. My focus is on the design and optimisation of these systems. In creating such enzyme cascades, I try to shorten natural metabolic pathways by introducing specific enzymes and to establish cofactor neutrality in the system. To optimise the systems, I characterise the respective enzymes and deal with possible interactions of these with other cascade components.
