Research
The aim of the work is to increase the isobutanol production capacity of an already established enzymatic cascade in which sustainably produced methanol is fixed via formaldehyde with xylose consumption. This requires the targeted optimization of the activities and substrate specificities of several enzymes already described. In the course of this, already known methods of enzyme engineering are combined with the ultra-high-throughput screening method of fluorescence activated droplet sorting (FADS) in order to develop a new process for the optimization of formaldehyde- and methanol-fixing enzymes
