Research

The aim of my work is to modify and extend established enzyme cascades in order to integrate sugars (e.g. lactose) from agricultural waste streams. This requires not only the analysis of already described enzymes for the target reactions but also the improvement of the catalytic parameters and the thermostability of individual enzymes through enzyme engineering. To achieve these improvements, I am developing and optimizing processes for the integration of a microfluidic ultra-high-throughput screening system based on absorbance-activated droplet sorting (AADS)
