Forschung
My research focuses on establishing one-pot multi-enzyme cascades to produce valuable chemical products from renewable feedstocks such as various sugars. The main focus is on the characterisation and optimisation of the various enzymes within these cell-free cascades. Improving the properties of the bottleneck enzymes for increased activity, substrate promiscuity, solvent tolerance and thermostability via enzyme engineering is vital to the success of these cell-free enzymatic cascades. Furthermore, improving the overall efficiency and yield of the multi-enzymatic systems is essential to become industrially applicable for sustainable production.
