Research
My area of expertise is enzyme engineering. Biocatalysts can be tailored for specific properties (e.g. higher activity, improved stability at higher temperatures or in organic solvents, or enabling unnatural reactions) by (semi-)rational design or directed evolution. Optimized enzymes can be used in cell-free enzyme cascades to convert renewable resources from biowaste into important platform chemicals.
